MODULAR LIVING CAPSULE
OLYMPIAN OPTIMIZATIONS has been selected by ONE LIVING to offer technical support for the development of ONE42, its modern modular accommodation capsule.
The aim was to provide a structural solution that would serve both the design concept and the production/assembly requirements.
The Challenge
Lightweight Design, Heavyweight Standards
The ONE42 project posed a dual challenge: designing a lightweight, modular structure that met rigorous Eurocode standards for wind, snow, and seismic loads—while ensuring it could be produced entirely in-house, without welding or specialized equipment.
The design required high precision in assembly, repeatability for mass production and guaranteed tightness in the connections of the individual parts.
The project combined complex requirements, both in terms of engineering strength and industrial implementation. The structure had to be lightweight for ease of transport and assembly, but also robust, in order to meet strict standards of stability and durability.

Understanding both the construction constraints and the engineering requirements, our team addressed the challenge by conducting detailed load simulations (FEA) and developing a precise, weld-free modular connection system.
This allowed for easy assembly, consistent production, and reliable sealing of joints, all while preserving structural integrity and aesthetics of the final product.
The Result
Engineered for Efficiency and Compliance
The outcome was a fully compliant, high-performance frame system, designed to seamlessly integrate into the ONE LIVING production line.
By optimizing the design, we reduced total weight by 16% compared to the initial estimations, without compromising strength or safety.
The final construction fully meets the Eurocodes’ requirements, ensuring technical adequacy, production consistency and support for the capsule in a wide range of environmental and operational conditions.
